Vertcoin Block Reward Halving Countdown 2025
December 7, 2025 (approximately)
Vertcoin Halving 2025
What is Halving?
As you know all miners dedicate their computing power and electricity to confirm Vertcoin transactions, and in return the get a fixed amount of Vertcoin. Just like Bitcoin is designed. Ever since its launch 2014, Vertcoin’s reward has been 50 VTC for every block. The VTC reward halves every 840,000 blocks. The block time is 2.5 minutes or it happens approximately every 4 years.
What is actually halving is the reward given to miners whenever they process of a block of transactions.
The First Vertcoin Halving 2017
The first VTC halving happened on December 11, 2017 — the reward per block decreased from 50 VTC to 25 VTC coins per block plus transaction fees.
The Second Vertcoin Halving 2021
The second VTC halving happened on December 8, 2021 — the reward per block decreased from 25 VTC to 12.5 VTC coins per block plus transaction fees.
The Third Vertcoin Halving 2025
In Vertcoin’s case (just like Bitcoin), a halving happens roughly every four years. When the halving happens – approximately December 7, 2025, the reward per block will decrease from 12.5 to 6.25 VTC coins per block plus transaction fees.
Why Satoshi Nakamoto did this and why Vertcoin uses it?
Crypto enthusiasts often talk about cryptocurrency as a hedge against inflation. Why? The argument is that central bank money printing will lead to inflation or the decrease in the value of money over time. Vertcoin, by contrast, has a fixed limit of 84 million coins that can ever be created. This limited supply allows Vertcoin to resist inflation.
The theory of the Vertcoin halving is the same as Bitcoin and the chain reaction that it sets off works something like this:
The Vertcoin block reward is halved → half the inflation → lower daily available supply → higher demand → higher price → miners incentive still remains, regardless of smaller rewards, as the value of Vertcoin is increased in the process (theoretically Bitcoin proves it to date)
